Navy Family Accountability and Assessment System (NFAAS) standardizes a method for the Navy to account, assess, manage, and monitor the recovery process for personnel and their families affected and/or scattered by a wide-spread catastrophic event. NFAAS provides valuable information to all levels of the Navy chain of command, allowing commanders to make strategic decisions which facilitate a return to stability.
NFAAS allows Navy Personnel to do the following:
SSN and DOB are used by NFAAS for user login and authentication only. They are sent to NFAAS in encrypted format. SSN and DOB information already resides in NFAAS and is not captured and stored from login. They are not displayed in NFAAS in any form and is not used for any purpose other than U.S. Navy-approved personnel accountability. Users can change their password from DOB after login by going to the "My Info" page.
The public reporting burden for this collection of information, ####-####, is estimated to average 15 minutes per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information. Send comments regarding the burden estimate or burden reduction suggestions to the Department of Defense, Washington Headquarters Services, at whs.mc-alex.esd.mbx.dd-dod-information-collections@mail.mil. Respondents should be aware that notwithstanding any other provision of law, no person shall be subject to any penalty for failing to comply with a collection of information if it does not display a currently valid OMB control number.

| Purpose: | To account for personnel (status and whereabouts) following a natural/manmade disaster or when directed by the Secretary of Defense. To assess the impact of the disaster on DoD affiliated personnel and their families, by conducting a needs assessment survey. To capture information required to support Navy and DoD affiliated personnel as they return to a stable state following a disaster. To track Navy affiliated personnel and family members’ support requirements and command readiness efforts in areas such as Individual Augmentation Deployments, Exceptional Family Member Program, and mandated training. |

However, failure to provide requested information may negatively impact the ability to effectively track and support Navy affiliated personnel in the command’s readiness efforts, or hinder Individual Augmentation Deployments, Exceptional Family Member Programs, and training needed to support this program. |

SSN and DOB information entered into NFAAS is encrypted and compared with SSN and DOB information residing in Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), an Authoritative Data Source for the Department of Defense.
